Idols

I'm not talking about American Idol...I'm talking about my children's idols---BOOKS!

Did you ever hear a mother tell her children that their books were becomming idols? I did this afternoon. Sounds crazy, yes?! Two of my boys (aged 15 and 11) are reading the same series and each have their own books from that series from two different libraries (public and school). They are competing to see who can read the fastest and are constantly fighting about the books and to the point that they are getting into fights about them on the bus (poking not hitting--yet).

They could care less about anything other than their books. The house could be burning down and they wouldn't care (probably a slight exaggeration). Oh well, I know...things could be worse, but believe me, until you've walked in my shoes, you will never understand :0

  1. Having my kids go and pick up a book on their own, is about the same as telling them to eat vegetables! lol

  3. Believe me I understand everything else is more important to them..then sometimes they even act like their friends mean more then mom,dad and siblings.
